I was born in Spokane and Moved to Newport When I was 8 years old and grew up on Diamond Lake. I graduated from NHS and married my high school sweetheart - we have been married 28 years. I have two boys that both graduated from NHS. My oldest Logan graduated from WSU with an Engineering degree and youngest Aaron will be graduating from University of Arizona this spring with a Major in biology and heading off to grad school. He also holds the shot put record at NHS and for the State of WA two years in a row. After Aaron graduated high school we moved to Wenatchee because of a career change with my husband - who now works for the Forest Service - Matt Castle.
I have always loved doing art and my grandma (who just passed away this last year) was a major influence in my life for that - every time I stayed with her she always had some sort of art project for us to do. I couldn't wait to stay with her and see what we would be doing next, she even had me enrolled in the art of the month club where a project would be delivered to her house each month. When I got to high school I took art all 4 years. I set my art aside for a while when the kids were born, I did a few things that I usually sold at their school but that was about it. It wasn't until after I had an empty nest that I started to get back into my art. I discovered alcohol ink last year, loved the stuff right away. The way the colors blend and react to each other is amazing and I am discovering new techniques with it all the time, and it dries instantly. I mostly paint on metal that I design and cut out myself or my husband cuts it. I love the ink because it is so bright and fun to work with. I try and make items that will make people happy and bring a smile to their face, everybody should have something pretty to look at. I mostly paint critters; frogs, lizards, turtles, dragonflies, butterflies, and fish - lots and lots of fish. Fishing is my passion so if I can't be fishing I am painting fish. I think I have a fish in just about every state now. I just recently started painting tiles so I am really looking forward to seeing how that goes.
